Lottery

I tried something that unfortunately slowed the server to a crawl around 7am today. Things seem back to normal now, and I apologize for the inconvenience this caused.

The irony is that I was doing things to speed things up, and trying to do it without taking the site offline. The best laid plans of dragons and coders, and I learned a thing.

UPDATE 12 noon

Logins should be faster when there are a lot of people on the site, and when multiple users happen to log in at the exact same time. It still won't be instant, but I'm hoping it's noticeably faster.
