On this brisk January morning, an orange and blue Normal sits at a picnic table. He has a checklist in one paw and skims through an open book with the other. It is well-known around Lunaria that Howie’s greatest passion - next to giving helpful advice, of course - is birdwatching. He sticks the checklist into the book as a bookmark and adjusts the strap on his binoculars when he notices you.

“Oh! Hello there. Are you preparing to look for the Pearbird too?” he asks, face lighting up even though his eyes are well-hidden by his bangs.

Before you can even answer, he launches into further details at rapid speed.

“They are exceedingly rare and hard to locate because they are so shy, but I read that winter is the best time to look for them because there is less foliage for them to hide in. Not to mention their tracks are quite obvious in the snow. I feel really good about my odds today! They are one of the few birds in Lunaria I haven’t seen in person, so I'm ecstatic to get another lifer off of the list!"

Howie stows his book away in his pack and hops to his paws to trot off towards a nearby trail, obviously expecting you to follow.
