We have decided to add rarities to the Mystery Dye. As in, some dyes will have a slightly higher chance to be pulled than other dyes. We’re starting this out slow, because we don’t want to completely tank the market for the dyes. We’ll be monitoring the effects of this change and can/will make adjustments as needed.

Mystery Dye Exclusives* will have a higher chance to be pulled than other dyes, and some dyes (which have been cheap in the past) will have a slightly lower chance to be pulled.

We do want to make a note that we only have 11 Mystery Exclusive Dyes in the pool of 50 in the Mystery Dye. So while we did make it so that those individual 11 dyes have a higher chance than before to be pulled, it does not mean that you will primarily be pulling Mystery Dye Exclusives.

*What are Mystery Dye Exclusives? They are dyes that are supposed to be exclusive to the Mystery Dye. Occasionally (like when first released or when we notice the price getting really high) they have gone into the CWP shop, but otherwise are only available via the Mystery Dye. Code added a Mystery Dye Exclusive filter to the Library page for Dyes!

We chose to make this change because we have noticed that some of the dyes that are only available in the Mystery Dye end up being very expensive (20+ CWP) and some other dyes end up becoming really cheap. About a year ago, we did a big overhaul and moved dyes around, but that was a lot of work and didn’t really seem to fix the problem long-term. We’re hoping that by adding rarities 1) the mystery dye won’t need to be managed as closely; and 2) it’ll be easier on staff to make changes when needed.
