Breeding Updates
Code March 29, 2021 12:08 pm

Today we're pleased to announce some exciting new changes to breeding!

  • The Love Pear is now supplied with the request
  • Breedings can include a new Concentrated Vitamin Pear
  • Takes fewer breedings to get to 100% markings
  • Random mutations can appear on Gen4+ pups
  • And more!

Breeding Request Page

The breeding request page has been redesigned and now looks like this:

The breeding request page also uses a new waja picker that's faster, more mobile friendly, and includes some neat filtering options. More details about that in a separate news post.

Breed Requester Supplies The Love Pear

The person initiating the breed request now supplies the love pear, which should make breeding easier for just about everyone. This change affects breedings going forward, and is not retroactive; for existing breeding requests the pear will still need to be provided.

Faster To Get Markings To 100%

it will now take fewer breedings involving faded markings to get a marking to 100%, or to drop it down to 0% if you're trying to remove it entirely.

Neutral Colors Preserved

The breeding script does a better job of preserving neutral colors. Pups with neutral-colored parents are far less likely to have stray colors now.

Random Mutations and Markings

Pups that are generation 4 or more now have a small chance of a random mutation or marking appearing with the regular love pear. Pups with a higher MU amount have a greater chance of getting one; a MU of 100 has about a 6% chance while a MU of 0 has close to 0% chance of getting one. Random mutations and markings do not appear with the Ancient Love Pear.

It's given a color picked randomly from elsewhere on the pup, at 100%.

Concentrated Vitamin Pear

A new kind of Pear is now available, the Concentrated Vitamin Pear. If the breed requester includes this optional vitamin pear, the breeding will result in pup colors that are brighter and less muddy.

The vitamin pear blends colors using the HSL color model (see below) instead of the RGB color model that we normally use.

HSL Colors & The Hex Blender

You can learn more about the HSL color model on the revamped Hex Blender page, which now shows both classic RGB color blending as well as the new HSL color blending. Below the blenders are descriptions of each model, and links to more information on Wikipedia.

We really hope you enjoy these changes, and look forward to seeing what you do with them!

Quick Update
The pup predictor now lets you include a Concentrated Vitamin Pear.
