We're Socially Connected!

Hello loves!

Many thanks to everyone who's signed up for our newsletter! We're pretty excited about the response and interest it's received.

If you haven't gotten an invitation email, there's a new Newsletter Signup page where you can sign up. The offer to get a free gift has been extended through midnight on Saturday to give more people time to take advantage of it.

As a lot of you have already noticed, there's a new sharing feature on waja pages. This allows you to SHARE wajas to your social media pages. Players have been wanting this for years, and we agree that it's a great way to share lovely waja designs with friends who aren't on Wajas.

It helps make more people aware of Wajas, which helps us grow our wonderful community. This is a feature most sites have had for a while (including other popular petsites like Lioden and Flight Rising), we're just a bit late to the party adding it now.

If you pop over to a wajas page, you'll see a new share glyph at the top left:

Clicking it reveals the social media buttons, which you've undoubtedly seen elsewhere:

One of the goals of our newsletter was to bring back players who may not have seen all the recent changes on the site. One of the goals of these sharing buttons is to also help bring new players to the site. We really want Wajas to be successful, and growing our community is an important part of doing that. It also supports us in bringing lots of new and exciting features for you all to play with!

We had a soft launch of this feature last night, and we've been listening to your feedback, your words of encouragement and your constructive criticism.

Immediately after last night's launch we continued our testing (we could only test it so much without actually launching it), and made the buttons fit more with the look and feel of the site by moving them from below the waja image and hid them behind the share glyph you see above. This morning we're adding a new preference to hide your username on public pages (you'll find it in Settings).

We will be keeping an eye on this and if problems arise in the future and we need to fine tune or change how sharing works, we will absolutely do that.

For those wondering what the page looks like when someone clicks on a shared link, here's what that they see:

Your waja descriptions and art are still private, as people would need to join to see those. And if you use the new preference to hide your username, the waja's age is displayed instead.

Before now people could share — and did share — wajas to Pinterest, Facebook, and elsewhere, and they did not necessarily give credit where it was due, and often didn't mention Wajas or link to the site. This lets you — and us! — toot our own horns about our wonderful wajas, our designing skills and our great creative minds.

We understand that this is not everyone's cup of tea, and if you decide social sharing is not for you we totally understand. If you've been waiting for this feature, thank you for your patience, we hope you make them most of it and enjoy it as much as we have. And thanks for helping to spread the word about us!
